Welcome to the UHL

Western Canada's best Hockey & Entertainment

The Ukrainian Hockey League was founded in 1998 by a few guys wanting to play beer-league style hockey, focusing on fun, family and comradery. 

Since then, it has blossomed into a league of its own. We not only play hockey, but we also raise funds for those in need. We have a total of 90+ players ranging in age from 18-70, led by the self-proclaimed "UHL Commish" (Ron Bobyn) who took the UHL to a whole new level in 2004.

Today, we are now a registered Foundation called the UHL HOCKEY LEAGUE FOUNDATION and we are proud to help others where we can, ensuring lots of laughs, fun, and good old fashion Ukrainian entertainment is at the forefront.

WE ARE PROUD UKES, with a dash of non-ukes too!

Established in 1998, the UHL Cossacks are here for the long run to play hockey and support Charities.

Who is the U.H.L.?

We are (mostly) Super-Human Ukrainians that have been playing spring hockey for 20 years now.  We have players ranging in age from 16-62, and we even have a few female players to keep us in line. Seriously, they do!

Our Home Arena

All four UHL teams play at The Westside Recreation Centre at the corner of 17th Avenue and 69th Street SW. Puck drops weekly on Sundays beginning at 7:30pm. Come out and watch us give it all we got!  It’s kinda like watching paint dry!

The infamous Cossack Kup. Made from pots and pans for the Church. This has served many meals!

Our Goal

Well over 70 players out to have fun, bring families together, and at the end of the day, raise money to help families in need. Donations to date exceed $15,000 to help where we can, when we can. Oh, and we also strive to win the coveted Cossack Kup!
